The time has come again for our annual member’s small works exhibition.  The show will be displayed from December 3rd to the 17th.  Works must be no larger than 12x12x12 inches and be ready to hang/display.  Price cannot exceed $550.  No more than 3 works per artist.  Must hold a current ROY G BIV membership.

Drop off: 11/26-11/27

Opening reception: 12/3

Pick up: 12/17-12/18

35% commission on all sold works.

Looking for acrylic painting instructor

Application Due: October 31, 2011

Date: November 9, 2011 and December 7, 2011 6-9pm

Paid: $25 per hour

We are having a monthly member only opportunity for artists who paint to teach a three hour class.  The event will be held at Roy G Biv emerging artist non-profit gallery (997 N. High St).  We need 3-5 painters that will be teaching 15 adults how to recreate a painting the artist has already created.  The artist will be teaching one at a time and will rotate each month amongst the selected artists.

The event is sponsored by Colors and Bottles.  Colors and Bottles is an art class event planning organization.  They started their business in Chicago and are working to expand throughout the nation.

The first two dates for this event are November 9^th and December 7^th both from 6-9pm.  This will be a reoccurring event the second Wednesday of every month.  Artists will be paid 25 dollars per hour and supplies will be included.

ROY G BIV Gallery for Emerging Artists is currently looking for artists to exhibit in a statewide juried exhibition focusing on the best photographic and video arts in Ohio. Only photograph and video-based work will be accepted for consideration. Entries are limited to artists residing in the state of Ohio.

Chris Stults will select the artists for ImageOHIO12 whose works will be exhibited from January through February 2012 at the Shot Tower Gallery on the campus of Fort Hayes as a satellite exhibition of ROY G BIV Gallery in
Columbus, Ohio.
About the juror:
Chris Stults is associate curator in the Film/Video department at the Wexner Center for the Arts, where, since 2002, he has organized programs devoted to the work of Morgan Fisher, Hong Sang-soo, Lewis Klahr, Jennifer Reeves, Phil Solomon, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, and the nexus of video games and personal cinema, among many others. His writings on film have appeared in publications as varied as Film Comment, the catalog for the Vienna International Film Festival, and Nashville Scene, among others.

ENTRY PROCEDURE

Powerpoint slideshow:

For consideration, the artist must submit ten to twelve images digitally on CD in Powerpoint format only. Each Powerpoint slide is to be labeled with the following: number, title of work, date of work, medium, and dimensions. PowerPoint presentations should have a black or gray background and should not include sound except for video works. Please label with last and first name (ex. smith_john.ppt).

JPEG files:

In addition, the artist must submit jpeg files, which are 1200 pixels on the longest dimension (or approximately 1MB in size), of each image submitted. These must be labeled with last name and slide number (ex. smith01.jpg).

Image List:

Each set of jpegs must be accompanied by an image list containing the following information for each submitted image: number, title of work, date of work, medium and dimensions. The image list must be in .doc or PDF format labeled with last name (ex. smithimagelist.doc).

For Video Artists:

Video artists can submit a selection of no more than 5 videos.

Videos must be submitted in Quicktime (.mov) format with 740 X 480 aspect ratio for widescreen or 640 X 480 for fullscreen. The first two minutes of each video will be reviewed. Videos should not exceed a playing time of 15 minutes per video.

Artist Statement and Resume

Submissions must include an artist statement and a resume in PDF or .doc format, labeled with last name (ex. smithstatement.doc) No other supplemental materials will be taken into consideration during the jury process. CDs and DVDs will only be returned if accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope. CDs and DVDs of selected artists will be retained for use in the promotion of ImageOHIO12.

ROY G BIV Gallery for Emerging Artists is currently looking for entries for their 2012 Exhibition Schedule. Christopher Lynn (Executive Director of SPACES in Cleveland, Ohio), Danielle Julian Norton (professional artist represented by Cynthia Reeves Gallery in New York), and Justine Ludwig (Assistant Curator at the Contemporary Arts Center in Cincinnati, Ohio) will select the artists. Each selected artist will be grouped with one to two other artists. Group exhibitions may be submitted with a show concept proposal for the space.

CDs and DVDs will only be returned if accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope. CDs and DVDs of selected artists will be retained for use in the promotion of the 2012 Exhibition Season.
